Skyclock, the web app, is a solar chronometer that tells time by sun, date, and location as no other clock on earth. The key visual aid is twilight, when the sun's rays are close to the earth.
In the history of time-telling (chronology), no other clock provided a visual day/night and twilight representation.
Daylight and darkness everywhere are intersected twice daily by alternating periods of twilight. Skyclock precisely measures and graphically displays lengths of twilight, daylight and darkness periods, which in most populated areas changes daily. For instance, in March and September the length of day may shorten or lengthen by two minutes.
Here's an example of a twilight period. In the Eastern time zone the time may be 7:30 a.m., and in New York City sunrise begins by the sky brightening (morning twilight). But in a straight line 482 miles west, in Detroit, night prevails and it's still 7:30. In a few minutes New York may be in daylight, while in Detroit the early stages of twilight will begin. Yet it's still the same hour in both cities.
Skyclock 2.2.3 on the web, free, visually displays the difference.
