Public clocks are great. It's a tradition that goes back thousands of years to sundials and poles. While standardizing time over distances didn't occur until train schedules made it necessary, the public clock has been a quiet focal point that provided a sense of community through shared time and place.

Today's public clock is outside of Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. This is classic design providing great visibility and a sense of grace and strength to the institution. Below is another shot, showing some context as to it's presentation and size. You'll find it in Manhattan on Lexington Ave. between 75th and 77th.
